Stad, Land, Water (RGB), 2024
Hand-tinted 8mm film (ca. 4 min), projector, three coloured lightbulbs

The basis of Stad, Land, Water (RGB) is seven found reels of 8mm film, shot by an anonymous Amsterdammer. After an initial review, the footage was divided into scenes of water, countryside, and city. Each type of scene was then tinted blue, green, or red—the three primary colors of contemporary digital projection. Film tinting, a technique popular in the silent film era, was used here to structure and transform this mid-1960s home movie, a time when amateur filmmaking became accessible to a broad middle class.
